About Textware:
Textware is a search and retrieval engine for DOS or Macintosh PC's.
Textware uses the index database on the CD-ROM to allow for rapid
search and retrieval of the data. To get help press F1 (on DOS) or use
"Help" under the "Apple" Menu (on Macintosh.) The articles from
Newsbytes are organized in reverse chronological order on this CD-
ROM (so that more recent, hence more important, articles are first.)
Each article is referred to as a "Card" and may contain one or more
pages of text. Each "Card"s is an article straight from Newsbytes.
You can search the entire database using keywords and will find
articles covering telecommunications, computing trends, general
computing news, Government, and special articles on UNIX, IBM, and
Apple. Also included are reviews of software and hardware,
editorials, stock reports, and more, collected from the archives of
Newbytes News Network.
Searches can be made for one or more words. When doing a search a
"Hit List" is generated and can be viewed. This list contains
summaries of "Card"s with an occurrence or occurrences of what was
searched for. When viewing a "Card" in the "Hit List" the searched
for words will appear highlighted.
About the Producer of this CD-ROM - MUG News Service
MUG News Service (MNS) is a UPI-like news service that reaches
more than 350,000 Apple Computer users that belong to Apple user
groups. Each month MNS produces a monthly news disk that is
sponsored by a third party developer and mailed to more than 1200
user group editors in the United States, Canada, and 14 other
countries. MNS was founded by Don Rittner, a long time Mac user
and former columnist for Macazine and Macintosh Horizons. He also
has written for MacUser and MacWeek. Rittner is founder of one of
the oldest Mac user groups in the U.S. - MECCA. Rittner is the author
of EcoLinking, a directory of online resources for the worldwide
environmental community, to be published by PeachPit Press. He is
also the Forum Leader for America Online's User Group Forum and
the Environmental forum.
